Advantage Care Health Center is pleased to announce that Dr. Mary Mulqueen and  Alicia T. Portuondo-Smith, MSN, FPMHNP-BC have joined our staff.

 Dr. Mary Mulqueen is a primary care physician who will be providing medical services to both adult and pediatric patients in Brookville and Freeport.

 Alicia T. Portuondo-Smith, MSN, FPMHNP-BC is a psychiatric nurse practitioner who will be providing psychiatric services to both children and adults in Brookville and Freeport.

Advantage Care Health Center is pleased to announce that Dr. Mary Mulqueen has joined our staff, November 6th, 2017 providing medical/pediatric services in Brookville and Freeport.

Dr. Mulqueen is board certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics and is available to see patients of all ages.  She has a particular interest in caring for children and adults with Down Syndrome and other intellectual and developmental disabilities. 

Dr. Mulqueen comes to us from her residency in Combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics at Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York.  As Chief Resident she was responsible for communication between residents and faculty regarding training, education and professionalism.  She developed a resident wellness program, a journal club curriculum, and led recruitment activities.  In May 2016, Dr. Mulqueen visited the Engeye Health Clinic in Ddegeya, Uganda where she provided health care and community support, leading an educational community outreach session with village health leaders.

Dr. Mulqueen holds professional memberships with the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, and American Academy of Pediatrics.  She is a member of the Down Syndrome Medical Interest Group (DSMIG) and participates in the Annual Down Syndrome Medical Interest Group Symposium every summer. 

In addition to attending a multitude of workshops and lectures, Dr. Mulqueen has also conducted research as a co-investigator in Action Plans for Patients with Asthma: A QI Initiative, Pediatric to Adult Transitions: A Needs Assessment, and Randomized Controlled Trial of the Treatment of Acute Sinusitis with Standard-Dose vs. High Dose Amoxicillin/Clavulanate. 

Dr. Mulqueen first came to AHRC in 2006 as a counselor, continuing to volunteer her services each summer at Camp Loyaltown, to this day.  She also volunteered at events for self-advocates with Down Syndrome at the Aim High Down Syndrome Resources Center in Albany, NY.

Advantage Care Health Center is pleased to announce that Alicia T. Portuondo-Smith, MSN, FPMHNP-BC has joined our staff, November 6th, 2017 as a psychiatric nurse practitioner in Brookville and Freeport.

Alicia T. Portuondo-Smith received her MS degree, Magna Cum Laude, from the Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Program at Molloy College in Rockville Centre, NY in 2017. Prior to coming to Advantage Care, Alicia was a Registered Nurse/OB-GYN Triage Nurse at Winthrop Women’s Contemporary Care in Mineola, NY, where she developed and managed individualized plans of care for high risk Obstetrics/Gynecology patients.  Alicia also was on staff as a Registered Nurse/Labor & Delivery at New York Hospital of Queens, Flushing, NY, assessing obstetric patients in triage; a Registered Nurse/Home Care at Catholic Home Care in Rockville Centre, NY; and a Registered Nurse/Medical/Surgical/Obstetric/Mental Health at Prison Health Service on Rikers Island, NY.
