Dr. Coffey received his Doctorate of Philosophy from Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY in 1991.  He received his NYS Psychologist License and NYS School Psychologist License in 1992.  Since then, Dr. Coffey has been in private practice as a practitioner of Cognitive-Behavioral Orientation (CBT) – treating depression, ADHD Autism Spectrum disorders, eating disorders and anxiety disorders.  He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology at Nassau Community College in Garden City, NY.

In 1993, Dr. Coffey, in collaboration with Lightstone, Lazarus, Denny and Richman piloted a grant proposal:  Preventive, Intensive, Low-Cost Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Treatment.  Dr. Coffey co-authored a book of daily meditations titled “The Reflective Counselor” published by the American Bar Association in 2008.
