Dr. Joseph Amnawah is a highly accomplished Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Educator with over a decade of experience delivering mental health care across diverse clinical and academic settings. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing from Adelphi University, where his research explored the intersection of school nursing and mental health outcomes, focusing on work-life experiences, self-efficacy, and attitudes among healthcare professionals.
Dr. Amnawah’s clinical practice spans inpatient, outpatient, and community-based mental health services, with expertise in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry. Previously, he served as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at Ohel Children’s Home and Family Services and South Oaks Hospital, where he conducted comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and treatment planning in strengths-based, recovery-oriented environments. Dr. Amnawah is well-versed in motivational interviewing, crisis intervention, and holistic approaches to care.

In academia, Dr. Amnawah has held teaching positions at Adelphi University and currently serves as an Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program at Molloy University within the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program. He has played a pivotal role in nursing education, teaching courses on psychopharmacology, crisis intervention, and substance use disorders, thereby shaping the next generation of psychiatric nurse practitioners.
