Spring is right around the corner, which means warmer weather and longer days! After a long winter indoors it’s the perfect time to soak up the sun and breathe in some fresh air.

Spring is the ideal season for families to put their energy into positive physical activities. Here are some ideas for springtime activities for kids and adults to improve health and well-being.

Fun Springtime Activities for All

Go Hiking

The spring months bring all sorts of beautiful changes. Hiking is a great way to get out into nature while also getting in your exercise.

Find a local park and see what you can discover! To make hiking more fun, try climbing a tree, walking across a fallen log, or seeing who is the first to spot a certain flower or bird. You can even go on a scavenger hunt!

Go for a Bike Ride

Looking for something a little more fast-paced? Biking is a great low-impact exercise that everyone can enjoy. Find a local bike path and see where the open road takes you!

Make sure that everyone has gear that fits, including a helmet! It’s also important that everyone has a water bottle. Hydrating, especially on warmer days and during longer rides, is crucial.

Plant Flowers or Fruits and Vegetables

For adults and children alike, there’s nothing more exciting than watching something you’ve planted bloom and come to life. Gardening connects us to nature and is known to improve people’s moods and help alleviate symptoms of depression.

Make this a family activity by letting everyone plant something of their choice. Get your hands dirty together! And then sit back and enjoy your beautiful garden.

Turn on the Sprinkler

The later months of spring can bring some pretty warm weather. Cool down by turning on the sprinkler and running back and forth. Challenge each other to see who is the fastest! This is a fun yet simple way to get everyone’s blood pumping.

Be sure to stay hydrated and don’t forget your sunblock!

Play Hide and Seek

Hide and seek is a fun game for kids of all ages. There’s a unique thrill to coming up with clever hiding spots, not to mention the anticipation of waiting for someone to find you (or not!).

Though it can be played indoors, hide and seek is even more exciting outside. Set boundaries and be sure to explain off-limits areas. Giving kids the freedom to explore and use their creativity to find good hiding spots is good exercise for both the mind and body.

Play Sports Together

Spring and sports go hand-in-hand. Family sports will get everyone’s heart pumping. It’s a great way to teach kids sportsmanship and healthy competition while staying physically fit.
